Charles & Mary Lamb's condensed versions of Shakespeare are a good introduction for younger readers and those who want a brief, prose-based summary of the plots. Initially, Charles was listed as the sole author. Later editions such as this added Mary Lamb as co-author.
Louis Rhead's black and white illustrations, as always, are excellent. Where this edition fails is in providing credit to Frank Earle Schoonover, who created the painting used as both the cover and frontispiece to this edition.
